Caros leitores e colaboradores do BOMGEAM,
Em suas mãos chega agora o número 1 da edição 13 do BOMGEAM (2026) com dois artigos científicos, duas notícias e também duas crônicas, com figuras ilustradas em nossa capa.
Os artigos abordam a história da mina-vila de materiais de construção empregados para edificação da monumental fortaleza militar REAL PRÍNCIPE DA BEIRA, na fronteira Rondônia-Bolívia; e a mineralogia e composição química de um SEIXO NEGRO coletado no litoral da ilha de São Miguel, em Açores, cujo invólucro de obsidiana esconde uma bomba traquítica.
As duas notícias são um louvor aos minerais. A primeira apresenta a riqueza de minerais com propriedades gemológicas no arquipélago de Açores, pesquisados e disponibilizados pela Azores Gems and Minerals. A segunda traz a público o MUSEU CASA DO MILSON, o McM, sediado em Aracati, Ceará, e que será inaugurado solenemente em 19.07.2026; uma nobre iniciativa de Milson Edmar da Silva Xavier, como hobby e produto do ócio de sua aposentadoria, segundo ele. Coisa pensada bem antes disto, é claro. Seu acerco principal contempla os minerais, em especial aqueles ocorrentes no Brasil.
As duas crônicas contemplam a SOLITE, A PEDRA DA RESILIÊNCIA, que aborda uma viagem do carbono na matriz de sílica calcedônica de “seixos” da orla marinha de Açores e a MARCONDESITA, uma pedra, vítrea, amorfa em parte, por vezes com digitais fósseis de braquiópodes, também encontrada em Açores.
Aproveitamos também para relembrar o grande evento XII Simpósio Brasileiro de Exploração Mineral, o SIMEXMIN 2026, já tradicional e sempre realizado na cidade de Ouro Preto, em Minas Gerais, o berço da atividade Mineral no Brasil. Transcorrerá no período de 17 a 20 de maio do corrente ano. https://simexmin.org.br/2026/
Também será realizado em breve a tradicional SEMANA (XXIII) DE GEOLOGIA DE CARAJÁS, na cidade de Parauapebas, sul do Pará, no período de 28 a 30 de maio do corrente ano, em sua vigésima terceira edição, tendo à frente os geólogos Daniele Freitas Gonçalves e Luiz Cláudio Gonçalves da Costa, uma oportunidade para congraçamento dos geólogos da região, em seu dia de calendário.
Uma boa leitura para todos e sucessos em seus empreendimentos e na vida como um todo. Um Tim-Tim aos minerais, cada vez mais presentes em nossa vida e no nosso bem-estar.

Dear readers and contributors of BOMGEAM. In your hands is now issue number 1 of edition 13 of BOMGEAM (2026) with two scientific articles, two news items, and two chronicles, with illustrated figures on our cover. The articles address the history of the construction-material mining village used for building the monumental military fortress REAL PRÍNCIPE DA BEIRA, on the Rondônia-Bolivia border; and the mineralogy and chemical composition of a black pebble collected on the coast of São Miguel Island, in the Azores, whose obsidian casing hides a trachytic bomb.
Both news stories are a praise to minerals. The first presents the wealth of minerals with gemological properties in the Azores archipelago, researched and made available by Azores Gems and Minerals. The second announces to the public the MUSEU CASA DO MILSON, the McM, based in Aracati, Ceará, which will be solemnly inaugurated on 07/19/2026; a noble initiative by Milson Edmar da Silva Xavier, as a hobby and product of his retirement leisure, according to him. Obviously, this was planned well before that. Its main collection encompasses minerals, especially those occurring in Brazil. Both chronicles cover SOLITE, THE STONE OF RESILIENCE, which traces a journey of carbon in the chalcedonic silica matrix of “pebbles” from the shoreline of the Azores, and MARCONDESITE, a stone, glassy, partly amorphous, sometimes with fossil fingerprints of brachiopods, also found in the Azores.
We also take the opportunity to remind everyone of the great event XII Brazilian Symposium on Mineral Exploration, SIMEXMIN 2026, already traditional and always held in the city of Ouro Preto, in Minas Gerais, the cradle of mineral activity in Brazil. The traditional CARAJÁS GEOLOGY WEEK (XXIII) will also soon be held in the city of Parauapebas, in the south of Pará, from May 28 to 30 of this year, in its twenty-third edition, led by geologists Daniele Freitas Gonçalves and Luiz Cláudio Gonçalves da Costa, an opportunity for the gathering of geologists from the region on their calendar day.
