Caros Leitores do BOMGEAM,
O número 1 de nosso boletim BOMGEAM edição 9 (2022) finalmente chega a vocês já sem os efeitos perversos da pandemia do COVID-19, surgida na China. Os efeitos deletérios da “política FIQUEM EM CASA E DA ECONOMIA CUIDAMOS DEPOIS” chegaram e estão fortes, atingindo o Mundo como um todo, em especial os Países ditos ricos e em desenvolvimentos, que assumiram esta postura: índices inflacionários muito elevados e crescentes, em decorrência da elevação dos preços de alimentos e energia (demanda maior que a oferta) e PIB negativo, desemprego crescente. Soma-se a tudo isso a invasão da Ucrânia pela Rússia.
Nossas Universidades e as escolas públicas, principalmente, permaneceram dois anos completos praticamente fechadas. As consequências negativas de tudo isto são ainda imensuráveis. É neste cenário de transição de pandemia para epidemia Covid-19, a tentativa de volta ao novo NORMAL, que lançamos o presente número, mantendo a nossa assiduidade mesmo na adversidade.
O presente número contempla 6 artigos abordando assembleia de minerais pesados e morfologia do zircão em depósitos de bauxitas da Amazônia; aspectos cristaloquímicos de nanoanatásio também das coberturas dessas bauxitas, como um tributo ao memorável mineralogista prof. Dr. Herbert Pöllmann da Universidade de Halle, falecido prematuramente em 05.05.2022, grande admirador do BOMGEAM; os diamantes de São João do Araguaia e seus minerais indicadores/acompanhantes extraídos da dissertação de mestrado de H. Hohn de 2000; alguns minerais de minérios de depósitos da Amazônia e um memorável artigo sobre a geologia e a mineralogia do Salar Uyuni na Bolívia. Também aproveitamos para divulgar Trabalhos de Conclusão de Curso (TCC) antigos em sua forma original, por enquanto abordando problemas geológicos da Amazônia, desenvolvidos junto ao Curso de Geologia da Universidade Federal do Pará, orientados pelo professor Marcondes. Mas essa janela está aberta a todos aqueles que acharem oportuno e se manifestarem. Serão bem recebidos.
Dedicamos este número do BOMGEAM ao prof. Dr. Dr. Herbert Pöllmann, pela sua dedicação à mineralogia, à pesquisa de novos materiais, ao seu amor ao Brasil e aos seus minerais, imortalizados em sua rica, linda e rara coleção de minerais (einmalig!!!). Iremos editar um número especial do BOMGEAM dedicado exclusivamente ao prof. Dr. Dr. Herbert Pöllmann. Aguardamos, é claro, contribuições espontâneas.

Dear BOMGEAM Readers,
The number 1 of our newsletter BOMGEAM issue 9 (2022) finally reaches you without the perverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, which emerged in China. The deleterious effects of the “STAY AT HOME AND WE TAKE CARE OF THE ECONOMY LATER policy” have arrived and are still strong, reaching the world, especially the so-called rich and developing countries, which have taken this stance; they manifested themselves in the form of very high and rising inflation rates, because of rising food and energy prices (demand greater than supply);
negative GDP and rising unemployment. Added to all this is the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
Our universities and public schools remained practically closed for two full years. The negative consequences of all this are still immeasurable. It is in this scenario of transition from pandemic to Covid-19 epidemic, the attempt to return to the new NORMAL, that we launch this issue, maintaining our assiduity even in adversity.
This issue includes 6 original articles addressing heavy mineral assemblages and zircon morphology in bauxite deposits in the Amazon; crystallochemical aspects of nanoanatase also from the covers of these bauxites, as a tribute to the memorable mineralogist prof. Dr. Herbert Pöllmann from the University of Halle, who died prematurely on May 5, 2022, a great admirer of BOMGEAM; the São João do Araguaia diamonds and their indicator/accompanying minerals extracted from H. Hohn’s 2000 master’s thesis; description of some ore minerals from Amazonian deposits; and a memorable article on the geology and mineralogy of Salar Uyuni in Bolivia.
We also provided the opportunity to disseminate old manuscript related to Course Completion Works (TCC) in their original form, for the time being addressing geological problems in the Amazon, developed together with the Geology Course at the Federal University of Pará, in Belém, Brazil, advised by Professor Marcondes. But this window is open to all those who find it opportune and manifest. You will be well received.
We dedicate this issue of BOMGEAM to prof. Dr. Dr. Herbert Pöllmann, for his dedication to mineralogy, to the research of new materials, to his love for Brazil and its minerals, immortalized in his rich, beautiful, and rare collection of minerals (einmalig!!!). We will edit a special issue of BOMGEAM dedicated exclusively to prof. Dr. Dr. Herbert Pollmann. We look forward, of course, to spontaneous contributions.
