Caros Leitores do BOMGEAM,
O número 1 de nosso boletim BOMGEAM edição 7 (2020) chega em um momento, em que o Mundo, no seu todo, foi atingido por um choque brutal em sua saúde humana, que passou a exigir isolamento social. Como consequência óbvia, no setor produtivo, na economia como um todo, praticamente sem distinção, apenas variando conforme a robusteza econômica, política e social de cada país. Tudo isso é creditado a um vírus, o CORONAVÍRUS, de provável fonte chinesa, Wuhan, que provoca a doença com alto índice de letalidade, o COVID-19. Resumindo, fomos atingidos, pobres e ricos, pela PANDEMIA MUNDIAL covid-19, ainda sem remédio comprovado e também sem vacina disponível.
O Brasil, considerado a nona economia mundial, mas em 79° lugar em termos de IDH, que em relação a América do Sul, está empatado com a Colômbia e perdendo feio para Uruguai (57º.), Argentina (48º.) e Chile (42º.), foi severamente atingido pela pandemia COVID-19. O País, Brasil, praticamente está parado, vários estados e cidades isolados, com barreiras policiais, em nível de lockdown; as comunicações físicas como transportes aéreos, de ônibus, trens e de automóveis restringidos; 95 % dos aviões no chão. Os hospitais e a rede de saúde exaurida e/ou confusa; quando funciona, aparentemente restrita ao tratamento da COVID-19. Um quadro desanimador. Além da força brutal da PANDEMIA que nos atingiu, ela ressuscitou e fortaleceu os nossos graves problemas políticos e de administração pública em termos gerais, com os poderes constituídos se estranhando. A situação está deixando bem claro o quanto somos vulneráveis e despreparados para uma batalha, com o inimigo escondido. Além disso, o que é desesperançoso, é que não se vislumbra um horizonte próximo para a volta a uma realidade, que promete ser mais difícil ainda em todos aspectos da vida cotidiana: saúde, educação, trabalho, ocupação, emprego, economia como um todo, transportes, relações humanas, religiosidades, etc. Prevê-se uma queda no PIB de no mínimo 8 %. Estamos indo para uma forte DEPRESSÃO.
Para nós do GMGA/BOMGEAM, um dos grandes impactos desta PANDEMIA é a NÃO REALIZAÇÃO DA SEMANA NACIONAL DE MUSEUS, pela primeira vez, desde que foi criada, a principal atividade nacional do Museu de Geociências da UFPA. Também a nossa querida e planejada Viagem Pitoresca, ESTRADA REAL, a terceira, sob a soberba organização do geólogo Luiz Cláudio, foi adiada para agosto, porém ainda está na incerteza. Ela ia ser realizada na semana anterior aquela do SIMEXMIN20, que também foi adiado para agosto do corrente ano.
É dentro deste quadro nunca dantes imaginado que lançamos esta edição do BOMGEAM, fruto de muito esforço, na tentativa de manter a chama acesa. “A esperança é última que morre”, ou ainda “Depois da Tempestade vem a Bonança”. A capa deste número e de todos os números anteriores portam uma máscara alusiva a pandemia, uma criação de nosso Site Designer, Marcus Melo Costa.
O presente número engloba 10 artigos originais e muito ricos. Eles abordam a constituição química e mineral de argamassas históricas; prospecção de fortaleza militar auto detonada na Baía de Guajará; caracterização químico-mineral de vidrado de azulejo histórico em Aracati; reuso de resíduos da construção civil para produção de tijolos-cimento, uma importante preocupação ambiental; a wavellita em crostas lateríticas fosfáticas; a susceptibilidade magnética e química mineral de granitos Arqueanos; observações texturais e mineralógicas de minerais de rochas tonalíticas do craton São Luís com apoio de MEV/EDS; os arenitos Poti e sua importância paleoambiental; a potencialidade de caulim de Itaiçaba, no Ceará; e os minerais de manganês no minério de ferro de Carajás como contaminantes. Como se pode deduzir, é um amplo espectro de temas, envolvendo a caracterização de materiais de construções históricas, petrologia e depósitos minerais.
Também aproveitamos para apresentar duas contribuições pessoais, opiniões particulares, não são artigos científicos, de amigos do GMGA/B0MGEAM, que vem de encontro ao momento atual: uma situação insólita hipotética no dia-a-dia sobre o Covid-19 e outra sobre a contribuição do economista Paul O`Neill, recém-falecido, e que exerceu importante papel em ergonomia dentro da ALCOA.
Infelizmente a iniciativa começada no número anterior de tentar encorajar os concluintes do Curso de Graduação em Geologia da Universidade Federal do Pará, em divulgar os principais resultados de seus Trabalhos de Conclusão de Curso (TCC) ainda não logrou bom êxito, por falta de interesse dos concluintes. Quem sabe, isto aconteça no futuro próximo. Da mesma forma a iniciativa muito alvissareira sob a liderança do prof. Dr. Jean Michel Lafon, coordenador dos Seminários de Apresentação do Mestrado do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Geologia e Geoquímica (PPGG) do Instituto de Geociências/UFPA em publicar resumos expandidos dos trabalhos de dissertação de mestrado dos alunos deste programa também não logrou bom êxito, pelos mesmos motivos.
Boa leitura e que novos bons tempos ressurjam após a PANDEMIA Covid-19.

Number 1 of our BOMGEAM issue 7 (2020) comes at a time when the world as a whole has been hit by a brutal shock in its human health, which has come to demand social isolation. As an obvious consequence, in the productive sector, in the economy as a whole, practically without distinction, only varying according to the economic, political and social robustness of each country. All of this is credited to a virus, CORONAVIRUS, from a probable Chinese source, WUHAN, which causes the disease with a high mortality rate, COVID-19. In short, we were affected, poor and rich, by the WORLD PANDEMIC covid-19, still without a proven drug and also without a vaccine available.
Brazil, considered the ninth world economy, but in 79th place in terms of HDI, which in relation to South America, is tied with Colombia and losing badly to Uruguay (57th.), Argentina (48th.) and Chile (42th.), was severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The country, Brazil, is practically at a standstill, several states and cities isolated, with police barriers, at the level of lockdown; physical communications such as air, bus, train, trucks and personal transport; 95% of the planes on the ground. Hospitals and the health network exhausted and/or confused; when it works, apparently restricted to the treatment of COVID-19. A disheartening picture. In addition to the brutal strength of PANDEMIC that hit us, it has resurrected and strengthened our serious political and public administration problems in general terms, with the constituted powers becoming strangers. The situation is making it very clear how vulnerable and unprepared we are to battle, with the enemy hidden. Furthermore, what is hopeless is that there is no prospect of a close horizon for the return to a reality, which promises to be even more difficult in all aspects of daily life: health, education, work, occupation, employment, economy as a whole, transport, human relations, religiosity, etc. GDP is forecast to drop by at least 8%. We are going into a strong DEPRESSION.
For us at GMGA/BOMGEAM, one of the great impacts of this PANDEMIC is the FAILURE OF THE NATIONAL WEEK OF MUSEUMS, for the first time since it was created, the main national activity of the UFPA Geosciences Museum. Our beloved and planned Picturesque Trip, ESTRADA REAL, the third, under the superb organization of geologist Luiz Cláudio, was postponed to August, but it is still in uncertainty. It was going to be held the week before that of SIMEXMIN20, which was also postponed to August this year.
It is within this framework that we never imagined before that we launched this edition of BOMGEAM, the fruit of much effort, in an attempt to keep the flame burning. “Hope is the last to die”, or “After the storm comes bonanza”. The cover of this issue and all previous issues bear a mask alluding to the pandemic, a creation of our Site Designer, Marcus Melo Costa.
This issue comprises 10 original and very rich articles. They address the chemical and mineral constitution of historic mortars; prospecting for self-detonated military fortress in Guajará Bay; chemical-mineral characterization of historic tile glaze in Aracati; reuse of construction waste for the production of cement bricks, an important environmental concern; wavellite in phosphate lateritic crusts; the magnetic and mineral chemical susceptibility of Archean granites; textural and mineralogical observations of tonalitic rock minerals from São Luís craton with support from SEM / EDS; Poti sandstones and their paleoenvironmental importance; the kaolin potential of Itaiçaba, in Ceará; and manganese minerals in Carajás iron ore as contaminants. As can be deduced, it is a wide spectrum of themes, involving the characterization of materials from historic buildings, petrology and mineral deposits.
We also took the opportunity to present two personal contributions, private opinions, they are not scientific articles, by friends of GMGA/B0MGEAM, which comes against the current moment: an unusual hypothetical situation in the day-to-day about Covid-19 and another about contribution of the economist Paul O`Neill, who recently passed away and who played an important role in ergonomics within ALCOA.
Unfortunately, the initiative started in the previous number of trying to encourage the graduates of the Undergraduate Course in Geology at the Federal University of Pará, in disseminating the main results of their Course Completion Works (TCC) has not yet been successful, due to the lack of interest from concluding. Who knows, this will happen in the near future. Likewise, the very encouraging initiative under the leadership of prof. Dr. Jean Michel Lafon, coordinator of the Master’s Presentation Seminars of the Postgraduate Program in Geology and Geochemistry (PPGG) of the Institute of Geosciences / UFPA in publishing expanded summaries of the master’s thesis works of the students of this program also did not achieve good results success for the same reasons.
Good reading and new good times to resurface after Covid-19 Pandemic.
